Lefton Figurines & China
For more than 60 years, Lefton China has been an importer of fine china products. At one time Lefton China had been widely distributed, with more than 10,000 retail locations in the United States. A number of pieces are popular collectibles, particularly during the period in which Lefton's products were made in Occupied Japan.
Lefton China produced in Occupied Japan included a wide range of pieces, dating from 1946 to 1952 and have becom popular collectibles. Designs ranged from delicate, formal pieces with gold edging and soft floral patterns to the whimsical and playful designs of the 1950s. Values vary considerably based on the quality of workmanship. Generally bisque figurines command much higher prices than porcelain, since they are usually of higher quality.
Ebay has played a significant part in the downfall of collectible values. Something that may have been worth $50 in the 1980's may now be found on ebay for less than 1/2 that price. So, be careful when you purchase a collectible and make sure you like the item first and formost.
